3D Puff Digitizing
Make Your Embroidery Stand Out With 3D Puff
Raised lettering can give caps and apparel a bold, dimensional appearance. But successful 3D puff embroidery requires artwork that’s appropriate for the foam and stitch construction.
Very thin lines, tiny lettering, and overly intricate elements can be difficult to reproduce with puff embroidery.

How 3D Puff Works
Foam is placed on the garment and satin stitches sew over it. The needle perforates the foam so excess can be torn away, leaving raised lettering or shapes. Column width, density, and end caps all need to be planned for the foam to stay covered.
Not the Same as 3D PVC
3D puff is a type of embroidery stitched over foam. 3D PVC is a molded rubber-like patch. They look and feel very different.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can any logo be done in 3D puff?
Not every design suits puff. Bold shapes and thicker letters usually work best. Fine details may be sewn flat alongside the puff elements.
